During the European Data Protection Day, on the 28 of January 2019, in Târgu Mureş, Romania, took place in a solemn atmosphere with the presence of more than 70 participants of the 2nd edition of the Conference „Data Protection in healthcare”, the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the Privacy Research Association of the Republic of Moldova and the Association of Privacy and Data Protection Specialists of Romania.

The partnership aims to ensure effective conditions for the development of cooperation between the two banks of Prut River, in order to promote the protection of personal data and the right to privacy for the benefit of individuals, as well as to ensure a dialogue based on trust and mutual respect in the process of promoting and implementing the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation and related legislation, operating as an associated consultative excellence center of professional for individuals and organizations, in the spirit of the principles of human rights and fundamental freedoms and the rule of law.

The Cooperation Agreement is above all to create the necessary framework for addressing personal data protection issues in healthcare, including training of data protection officers, experts in the field and other people involved in the justice process in the spirit of respect for the right to the protection of personal data.

The document provisions aim to promote knowledge of national legal systems in the field of protection of personal data among social, medical and legal employees, and by signing it, this represents one of the measures that would strengthen the uniform implementation of good European practices in the field.

The partnership between both Associations is a recognition of joint efforts to respect the commitments to promote European values and participatory democracy in Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the spirit of the protection of individuals’ fundamental rights and freedoms with regard to the processing of personal data, in particular the right to inviolability of intimate, family and private life.
