Launching the comparative study on the outreach campaign and awarness on personal data in Romania and the Republic of Moldova

The Association of Specialists on Privacy and Data Protection (ASCPD) of Romania and the Privacy Research Association of the Republic of Moldova, is launching jointly for the first time a comparative study aiming at assessing the awareness degree among the individuals (data subjects) of the importance of personal data.

The results of the study will be published on both Associations’ websites (www.ascpd.ro and www.privacy.md ) during March 1, 2019 and will be the basis of the joint projects for awareness raising and mobilization of the population, on the rights guaranteed under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC) and the Protocol amending the The Council of Europe Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (Convention 108).

This research project is the first activity launched by both Associations, held simultaneously in the Republic of Moldova and Romania since the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between them on 28 January 2019. The partnership between both Associations constitutes recognition of the joint efforts to meet the commitments to promote European values and participatory democracy in Romania and the Republic of Moldova in the spirit of the protection of the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, in particular the right to inviolability, intimate, family and private life. We invite interested individuals to complete the questionnaire, depending on their country of residence.

About the Association of Specialists in Privacy and Data Protection (ASCPD) – Romania

 

The Association of Specialists in Privacy and Data Protection (ASCPD) is set up to inform and bring together professionals wishing to successfully manage the implementation of General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 and related legislation, acting as a professional consultative body for people and organizations. ASPDC is a non-governmental, autonomous, apolitical and non-profit organization that helps define, support and improve the profession of Data Protection Officer and other specialists in the field and operates in accordance with the provisions of Government Ordinance no.26/2000.

ASCPD guides data protection officers and other data privacy specialists in solving the many legal, technical and organizational issues to identify an appropriate balance between the interests of data subjects that require protection and those of controllers.

The objective of the ASCPD is to provide concrete solutions to the problems faced by specialist in privacy and data protection, to raise awareness of the legislation and to provide to its members with a forum in which these topics can be tackled, to serve as the place for continuous professional training. ASCPD is campaigning to raise awareness on life technologies and privacy and data protection laws to ensure that the public is informed and involved in.

About the Privacy Research Association (APVP) – Republic of Moldova

The Privacy Research Association Association (Asociația pentru Protecția Vieții Private, APVP) is a relatively new and unique civic association in the Republic of Moldova, officially registered on the date of entry into force of the EU General Data Protection Regulation on 25 May 2018, with the commitment to contribute to the promotion and transposition at the level both nationally and within the Eastern Partnership countries, of European legal standards in the field of personal data protection and right privacy. The objectives of the association are to monitor the observance of the right to privacy and the processing of personal data in various sector across the public or private activity, to raise public awareness of the protection and promotion of the right to privacy, personal data and to ensure a fair balance for the exercise other fundamental human rights and freedoms, competing with the right to privacy.
