Conclusion of the cooperation Agreement between the National General Police Inspectorate and Privacy Research Association

In order to promote the public-civic partnership that lays out the basis of sustainable democracy between the state and the society, today, the 6th of March 2019, has been held the official ceremony for the conclusion of the Cooperation Agreement between the National General Police Inspectorate (IGP) and Privacy Research Association (Association). 

The provisions of the Agreement promote and emphasise as a priority the police activity’s compliance with the right to privacy of the persons concerned by ensuring the protection of personal data at their processing, in a transparent way, through specific professional legal training provided by the Association.

Through signing this Agreement, it is recognised the joint efforts to be made to achieve the objectives set by the international treaties on the right to privacy that Republic of Moldova is bound to, to modernise public services and to adjust the level of personal data protection to the highest European standards.

Therefore, for the benefit of the entire society of this country, a broad field of collaboration between the IGP and Association was identified, which implies:

  1. promoting the right to „private life“ and the concept of „personal data“ by increasing the perception of the national police of personal data principles;
  2. contributing to the development of a democratic society by both institutions through ensuring the proportionality of the application of human rights and fundamental freedoms, competing with the right to privacy; and
  3. collaboration in the process of refining and harmonising national legislation, which addresses the areas of criminal activity in order to ensure an adequate level of protection of personal data and the right to privacy.
